My name is Jim Roach. It’s a pleasure to serve you. I am grateful to have the opportunity in this beautiful country to run a small business.  Thank you for taking a look at it. I hope you will find an extra big smile or some cool gear here at The Adventure Preservation Society. 

 In 1986 when I got a BMX bike I would walk it around the neighborhood, chasing the “big kids” who knew how to ride. When I finally got on the bike and peddled, it was an exhilarating moment. 

As the years went by, nothing was more fun than building jumps for our bikes, riding in “the hills,” going to 7-11 for Slurpees or to the legendary Salty Peaks skate shop. 

It was true adventure to explore beyond the immediate neighborhood to find the best jumps or steepest streets to ride our skateboards down.   I often wish I had more photos of those moments. At the same time, I think we all cherish being present in the adventures of our lives, camera phones sometimes left at home. 

In the image, I had just completed my first road bike climb of the beast that is Guardsman’s Pass near Midway, Utah. I share this image because it has some of the key elements of T.A.P.S: outside adventure, a preservation photo of that moment, and some great music in my ears to motivate during the nasty climbs. 

The society part is my super adventurous wife Wendy or my great friend Andrew who pushed and supported me to accomplish this big climb. 

Here at The Adventure Preservation Society we play hard, capture the must have epic moments, and do it with friends and family.  Of course we sell the best camera gear!
